Job Summary
The Senior Software Engineer will join the Surface Transportation Division to work on Software Applications and systems for the Rail / Transit Industry. This person will be expected to apply a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, or management of the Rail Product software. You will use your independent judgment skills to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.
Job Responsibilities
Perform software development for complex, enterprise level software.
Participate in Requirement analysis and Design / Code reviews
Handle documentation for design, development, testing and training.
Participate on project teams to develop and support Rail Products.
Provide training and mentorship for less seasoned engineers
Participate in identifying changes to processes and procedures to help improve quality and efficiency
Basic Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
Experience working with C/C++ and Java.
Knowledge and hands on experience with one or more of the following: MS SQL, Oracle database, TCL, SWING, Python, Ruby, VMware.
Able to follow and enforce engineering processes and guidelines
Experience writing software documentation.
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Able to work independently or within a team.
Desired Skills:
Design level experience
Experience with Java and GUIs
Enjoy problem solving and committed to delivering high-quality software
A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Positive attitude and eager to learn and improve
