Experienced restaurant/kitchen manager is needed to join Hornblower Cruises & Events, supporting our dining cruises and special events. With key responsibility for managing and mentoring the kitchen team, you will also have primary responsibility for managing food costs and maintaining strict inventory control.
Position
Responsibilities:
Manage and train daytime prep staff of 5-7 cooks
Check in daily food deliveries and keep inventory organized
Assist with menu development/writing and coordinating food tastings
Assist with accurately cost out menu items
Assist Sous Chef with writing and maintaining recipes for all menu items and special events
Conduct food and supply inventories and maintain in Excel spreadsheet
Desired background:
Friendly leadership style with the ability to mentor and manage a diverse team
5 years' experience in a high volume restaurant, catering, or hotel kitchen. Some managerial experience preferred
Food Handlers Certificate & Serve Safe Certificate
Microsoft Office proficiency
Degree/training in food services desired
Bilingual a plus
This position requires pre-employment and random drug testing as required by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Hornblower Cruises & Events has been the leading yacht and public dining cruise company in the United States for more than 32 years. The San Francisco-based organization operates more than 60 vessels in northern California (San Francisco, Berkeley and Sacramento) and southern California (San Diego, Newport Beach, Long Beach and Marina del Rey), and the company also launched Hornblower New York in 2012. In addition, Hornblower operates two ferry service concessions for the National Park Service: Alcatraz Cruises provides transportation to Alcatraz Island, and Statue Cruises provides transportation to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Hornblower treats guests to a broad range of dining, entertainment and sightseeing cruises aboard U.S. Coast Guard and Transport Canada certified yachts.
